I just got back from a visit to Columbia, and it seemed to me that there were smokers everywhere. I wasn't there long, so this is just an anecdotal (sp?) report. However, this is a pretty big deal to me (I need clean air - I'm from Kentucky!) If, by any chance, there are any current Columbia students reading this, I would appreciate some input. Thanks!

I think you might have been at the wrong spot at the wrong time or something. I myself haven't seen many smokers, and when they do smoke, they tend to do it off campus.

You probably saw them outside because NYC and the University have strict laws against smoking... don't worry its no more prevalent than anywhere else in the country.

I know the first year dorms are non-smoking. So, people congregate outside to smoke, which might be what you saw. But there is no smell of cigarette smoke inside.
