Hi guys!
I’m attending the Columbia Summer Program for High School Students this summer. I decided to take the Introduction to Materials Science and Nanotechnology class (Session 2) and I will be living there for 3 weeks.
Is anybody else going this Summer, maybe even taking the same class as me? And if you have attended this Summer Program before, what are your thoughts about it?

I have applied for Columbia’s law program in Legal reasoning, writing and researching (session 2). If I get selected into Brown University’s leadership program, I won’t be attending Columbia’s. I’ve heard Brown’s Leadership Program is better than Columbia’s.

Actually I am kind of confused right now. Before I thought columbia has really good summer programs, but later I found a couple of discussion on the program, saying that it is not worth to go. I don’t know

Hi! I will be taking “introduction to business, finance and economics” session 2 (with housing). I’m from Norway, so i don’t know anyone attending either.
Hey! I also got admitted in session 2. I’ll take ‘Explorations in genetics and molecular biology’ with housing of course :). We all shall meet :p. A friend of mine said it’s awesome, so I’m curious.

Hey guys, I am considering applying to this program for the upcoming summer but I’ve heard some negative things about it not being rigorous, and there being a lot of slackers. Many comments I’ve read have said it’s not worth going, given the cost, but since you guys have been the most recent to experience it, I was wondering what you guys have to say about it.
Also, did anybody take the Investigations in Theoretical and Experimental Physics class? Do you guys know how popular it is? Thanks in advance
Hey Juan! I definitely recommend that you apply for this program! One year ago, I hesitated to apply for this program as well, after I read some negative comments here on college confidential. I have to say that this was one of the best summers in my life. I learned a lot about genetics. This course was very intensive and we did a lot of labs. My roommate took physics and he told me that it was very challenging. The only thing he didn’t like was the fact that there was way more theory involved than they did experiments.
Another thing that makes this program so great is the fact that this program is so diverse. You meet so many people from around the world. I also made a lot of friends. And we still Skype regularly with each other and iMessage daily. This program certainly showed me what college life is like.
Based on my own experience, I definitely think it’s worth it to attend this program! If you have more questions, don’t hesitate to ask them!
