Ok, I'll make this as painless as possible. I'm just curious about where I stand realistically. I'm currently a sophomore at NYU and a Comp Lit major, so I'd be starting as a junior at Columbia upon acceptance.

SAT - 1410
SAT IIs - 780, 750, 750
APs - 5, 4, 4, 4 and 3, 3, 2 in math and econ which aren't my areas of concentration anyway
ranked 4/330, high school GPA - 3.8 unweighted

College GPA - 3.74 <~~ this is what I'm most worried about because it's not anywhere near what I'd like it to be.

Awards: Natl. Merit Commendation, AP Scholar, Young Science Achiever's Grant, Presidential Freedom Award, Edward Bloustein scholar, English dept. award

ECs: (High school) - President of Community Service Club, Co-Captain of Academic Competition team, volunteer @ hospital, and myriad others but not enough room on the transfer application
(College) - Parliamentary Debate team, Founder and Vice-President of student photography magazine, tutor at local city high school, College Democrats

Other activities - internship at an alternative newspaper, summer job at a law firm, chairwoman of a tsunami benefit, journalism workshop in high school, played violin

In summary, my recommendation is from a prominent professor, people have said my essay is great, and my reasons for transferring are pretty specific and compelling (I think/hope). So hammer away...
