I’m happy to chance you … so here your eval goes!

You’re very vague on your grades – “top notch grades” does not tell me much. For some, it’s a 4.0 UW; for others, it’s a 3.8. Please be a little bit more specific. Also, a 4.0 UW doesn’t sound so great if you don’t have any or few APs or honors. Yet, a 3.8 UW does if you have challenged yourself enough in high school. For schools the likes of Columbia, you should have
about at least 7 or so APs … but nothing is a guarantee.

I’ll assume that you’ve achieved a 2150 on the SAT. A 2150 on the SAT is not bad at all. However, I will note that Ivies generally do not like people taking the SAT in their senior year. Your SAT IIs are decent; however, I recommend that you take on more SAT Subject in the sciences or the SAT Literature test.

You’re also very vague on your extracurriculars. What have you done? Based on what you’ve written, I’m gonna guess that you only have those ECs and leadership positions just so that you can put it on your app, because obviously being the president of 3 different clubs will guarantee you admission at Columbia … that is not the case!!! You need to like what you do … however that is too late to change now.

Overall, I cannot give you a defnitive eval, because (1) you failed to list your coursework rigor and GPA, (2) a REAL SAT score - not a practice SAT, (3) no real extracurriculars. Your post really doesn’t tell me much, shrtaznstff. I will rate you a REACH for Columbia, because for almost everyone, Columbia is a reach.

Ok so yeah…in reply to everyone…
first of all thanks for chancing me!

GPA is 4.1 UW w/ the hardest classes offered AT my school.
We don’t even have 7 AP classes offered and I have taken all the ones possible from my school.

In regards to E.C., I have dedicated my time to al ot of health-related organizations (I do want to go into the medical field) as well as served on different levels of an organization called HOSA in my school, and served as a State Officer. In that same organization I have competed and won at regionals & state level & made it to nationals as well, two years in a row. Again, with that same organization I have also done much community service and my essay includes a lot about how that organization has changed me and how I wish to start a chapter of that organization at the post-secondary level to the college I go to as I have connections with the State Advisors and they would be willing to completely support me in the process. I also have through the organization, my school, and our medical arts department, have recieved licensing in CNA (nursing assisting), CPR, First Aid, and EMT (emergency medical technicians …the ones dat work in the ambulances).

I emailed Admissions about the Math Subject Tests, but I am PRETTY sure it does count as two.

Also, as I want to double major, do you think I should put Math as my first choice rather than Biology?

Thanks go much again guys and sorry my first post was very bad. This is the first time I’m even like using College Confidential & what not.

What APs and what were your scores? You’re still incredibly vague. Your ECs are a little narrow, though that’s not a bad thing in the eyes of some colleges…Your SAT is low. I don’t think you’ll make Columbia. Sorry.

I haven’t taken any APs yet because in my school, Juniors don’t take APs. All of our APs are senior year and the only ones offered are English, History, and Calculus

&& my extra ciriculars are much more than just the HOSA that I was speaking of. I have a good 2 page resume of activities, including 8 or so club, tons of hours of community service, tennis, 10 leadership positions, much involvement in church as it is actually an organization for my local church.
