Columbia University '13 EARLY DECISION

Ahh I don't want to jinx it but I know despite what the decision is, I will be crying!

I want to play field hockey :)

mintlemonade- i agree.. i'll prob cry more if i actually get in. hahah

& PKAT44 - you should deff. start a circle k.. if i get accepted (not to jinx it but) i'd join. i'm vice president of my schools key club

club volleyball woot! but they look really good, so I don't know if I'd make the team.. I'd probably just play intramural volleyball
i hope i hopeeee

okay, i didn't want to make a new thread, but i am so scared.
I am an international. ( Female Asian) i have low SATs (in the high 2100s), pretty good grades (top 2% at a competitive, public school) and an IB diploma candidate.
ECs are solid (I think, many leadership positions with passion), but I just feel like I am not good enough.
Are my chances a lot lower if I am an international? I just hope that everyone on CC can get in, and we will all be happy! :D I just cannot wait, I'll probably have a heart attack. :(

isn't circle k a gas station?

hopefull, did you apply to CC or SEAS?

My whole application process has been completely awful. My application got in on time and what not, but...all the information from my school had been lost in the mail. Everything, SSR, teacher recs, transcript...everything!
My school accidently called Peter Johnson (dir of adm) for an hour and a half on his cellphone mistakenly. They had his number down on file instead of the admissions office, and then he personally went to look for my file to double check and say that none of my paperwork was in. What an impression.
Then, my interview was to be conducted by a teacher from my school. Then, my school canceled it thinking it would be a conflict of interest. And my rescheduled interview was last tuesday, and it went well overall, but I had a few slip ups like naming the author of a good book I read recently. JM Cotzee...South african writer. Easy to forget. But, still. Its just been a complete disaster...

I'm not thinking i'll get in, but I can only hope. Best of luck everyone.

PantherPaw don't worry about it. The school confused your files not you. And one slipup is alright all that matters is the interviewers overall impressions of you.

Hey I have a question everyone. I made a 2030 on the SAT and a 31 on the ACT? I sent both in. Will the ACT outweigh the low SAT score?

entr0py- ok first of all its not low haha

and they'll take the ACT (higher one)

yeah that happened to me too. i got a 2000 SAT and a 32 ACT. it kinda sucks that they're gonna see the SAT regardless (because we have to send the SAT report for the SAT subjects), but yeah it'll outweigh it.

I wish I had a 2000 on the SAT. I am on the low end of the range for Columbia. Haha, all this college talk is making me nauseas. Entropy, you have a stellar chance no matter what.

columbiaSEAS:) , I applied to CC, :( That's the bad part, cuz my math is pefect.. it's my critical reading, which is still in their range, but something like 25th percentile.

@hopefull: OMG me too!!! My math is nearly perfect, but my reading is on the low end (still in range, but really low). Adds up to the high 2100s... I seriously hope this isn't detrimental... Good or bad, I sent in a lot of supplements too (not unnecessary though --art, science, and stuff like that).

Also applying CC =P

^_~, are you also Asian and female? because that would be crazy! But you know what I mean though, because we are applying to the college, aka arts, and our reading just doesn't prove our eligibility...... although my english mark is pretty decent (at least gr 11 was) I just hope that less people applied for ED this year, and that we are still in the competitive pool

According to Princeton Review, Brown's early decision notification date is tomorrow, and I am SUPER jealous if it's true.

no, my best friend who did ED to brown said she got an email saying the notification date is the 11th, so no worries haha
theyre lucky to get a thurs though, before a wkend

and haha i was staying up to see if columbia would send out a notification date email today .. and they havent so far haha

PKAT44 don't despair, they're supposed to send out the email this week ish..of course since we haven't gotten the email yet, the earliest we'll get it is probably later this morning, as in, oh, 10 am or so? And yes I will be checking my email as often as I can throughout the day until I get that email! As well as CC in case they don't email me, because I seem to only get some of Columbia's emails, lol...

haha =] well you can def count on ppl here to post it as soon as they get it, so i guess were in luck haha =]

well people who applied through QuestBridge find out tomorrow, I know a girl who finds out about Columbia tomorrow.. she's freaked haha

@hopefull: yupp, I'm also Asian female -- this is so weird; they might think the same person applied twice xDD jk jk

But yeah; I get what you're saying... One of my recs is from an English teacher though; that may help =/

I think/hope less people are doing ED. There's the financial crisis going on, so I'm guessing more people would rather compare financial aid packages than do ED. Just my guess though.

Well, best of luck to both of us!
