john jay would be nice. i think i need the single.
and having a dining hall in the building is good, since im from FL and idk if i can handle the snow

Yeah Questbridge was today.. I know a couple of people who did it, applying to Columbia and elsewhere, and none of them got in.
I don't know their stats, so I'm really really worried now, I feel like anyone who qualified for something so selective would surely get in..

I'm hispanic, but I agree with the whole affirmative action thing. Of course, I'm not going to complain because it does give me some kind of an advantage, but I do think there should be a better way to seek diversity.
It also sort of devaluates any acceptances, just because people chalk them up to the whole URM thing. If I get in I know some people who will automatically assume that it's just because I'm hispanic, but in reality I think that I am qualified in other ways as well. I'm not just hispanic, I also busted my butt for the past 4 years and some people will just never recognize that.

i agree. i think they just shouldn't have race on the application at all. that way they'll pick the most qualified students without even taking race into consideration, and thereby have diversity based on interests, achievements, and opinions rather than skin color. i mean, if it truly doesn't matter, why consider it?

and i'm thinking john jay too. but i'm not, of course, cause i can't let myself think like that yet!! :P

where in florida! im from florida too, and if i get in im thinking john jay too :]

both of you are right. i have a good friend who is hispanic and applying to yale and she is worried that even if she gets in ppl are gonna say "o she's hispanic of course she got in". like i mean it does help obviously but she is definitely qualified and im sure alejis is as well. i agree with hpl629, they should just take it off the app

I'm from Florida too! (Fort Myers in Southwest FL)
I'm thinking Wallach, because I HAVE to have a single (touch of OCD) and I don't want to share a bathroom with an entire floor..
Ah, I really hope we all get in!!

ahh i came home too expecting to find an email from columbia. but NOPE. i want to at least know WHEN to expect the decision! it's driving me crazy.

Uuuggghhh we didn't find out a definite date today...hopefully tomorrow? OMG this is worrying me so much, what if we find out AFTER Dec 15th? That would suck SO much...

Hey everyone, so I'm new to this thread, but ahhh I've been going crazy thinking about my ED to Columbia >_<.
I'm from Florida too!

i'm so anxious and i can't get ANYTHING done. this is very bad.

Neither can I =/
I have tons of maths homework, among other stuff, but this is constantly on my mind. Then there are the reoccuring dreams at night about getting my email. Ughhh.

Oh my gosh. This is so ridiculous I could just shoot myself. I have constant butterflies.
Does anyone know which dorm it is that has the suites of four people? I've forgotten, silly me.

im from tampa-ish.

and two weeks is forever.

i think id want carman for my first year =]

and vxf13 - i think its hartley/wallach that has the suites

ahhhhhhhh i really hope we all get in haha and then we can all get to know each other for real =]

i've been following along the madness but have yet to post anything on this one...but like everyone else i'm somewhat freaking out. and vsf13 I know that Carman has a suit of four people divided into two doubles and a bathroom if that's the one you're talking about

if I get it... I'm not sure what dorm I'll want. I would want Carmen for the social atmosphere... but I also really want a single. can't decide. D:

I'd do Carman probably cause its the most social, even though i'd love the hartley/wallach suites

Yea I definitely think Carman's the best as far as meeting people and social atmosphere. When I visited I stayed in Carman and everyone was really nice, outgoing and walking in and out of each others rooms.

yeah, thats def true. but this way, we can save the good ones for our upperclassmen years =]

exactly, have you seen the EC dorms? they have two-level suites...enough said
