yeah.. and people talk.. there's over 1200 kids in my graduating class, but somehow people that I have never talked to know that I want to go to Columbia.. they're going to know if I don't get in too :[
I don't want anyone to know either way

double post but- anna314 you did the right thing.. you shouldn't try to play admissions, if Columbia was your number 1 then it's good that you applied there ED..

92% of the kids get rejected.

Most of this thread will be sent packing.

hahahahah thank you HopefulCEO, we really needed that

wow whoever posted that last message is real nice.
we all know that..u dont have to throw it in our faces.

To our bearer of lovely news-Hopeful CEO- we actually find that around 25% of Columbia ED applicants will be accepted by our beloved Columbia-in accordance with historical statistics on Early Decision. The 8% admission rate is actually a reflection of the RD process, and while the increase in applicants to near 2900 students may trigger a decrease in acceptance rates, the ED acceptance rate with such an increase will still be somewhere in the neighborhood of 17-20%. Thus, I feel your lovely statement is unqualified in many aspects.

alejis -- you say some of the nicest comments on this forum. i really hope you get in.

and not to single you out, i hope we all get in. we've definitely worked hard enough!!

Still not likely though.

Good luck.

Honestly though, the applicants I have seen in this board have been superb in every aspect. I think what people have to realize is that you will all be going to college next year and you will all be having a good time. Sure, some of us won't get our first choice (that being Columbia for all fo us here), but hey, at least we'll be somewhere.
Again, good luck to everyone =D.

so if you all get in.. then doesnt that make you all enemies?

Thank you Hopeful CEO, we all need as much luck as we can to get in. Personally I wish they say only 600 applicants applied this year, and we all got in. Maybe a Christmas miracle?

so is it really thursday @ 5?

ahh the SEAS admit rate for ED was 34% last year...so i have a 1/3 chance? haha. btw does anyone kno if the fact that im a girl wanting to do engineering help me at all?
im like going crazy. i didnt even really think about this for the last month cuz i was so busy but now that its creeping closer its the only thing i can think about!

aw that's so nice of you fishgills <3 i wish we could all get in :[

HopefulCEO, I used to think that it did, but not really, it makes us each other's competition but not necessarily enemies.. plus it's not like it is up to us who will get in

it's probably on your side that you're a girl, but of course, just that won't get you in

if it wasn't for all you guys and the thousands of other people who applied early decision, i would be in for sure.

thanks a lot EVERYONE!

you guys have no regard for anyone but yourselves. you disgust me.

haha wow zeke72791 you crack me up =]

but yesss. i like the idea of a christmas miracle where we all get in =]
i knoe its never going to happen, but i really do feel like everyone we talk to on this thread is great for cu in their own way.
personally, i hope that all of us on here get good news (hopefully) this thursday =]

don't feel ashamed if you don't get in.

if you are a good student, and a good person (which is disturbingly the goal of modern day admissions, it's just a broader way to analyze so schools can exclude people at will despite qualifications) you know that. You don't need a committee to tell you who you are.

And that's my feel good post of the day.

haha
that was cool.
im so regretting applying to columbia ED and not upenn cuz i like them both the same but i thought upenn was much more competitive and harder to get into so i choose columbia.
except now it turns out that columbia ED apps went up 16% while upenn ED apps went down 8%
this totally sucks.

This thread will be >50 pages by the time we get emails notifying us of the date, even if we get those emails tomorrow (GOD I hope so, yes that one in which I don't believe lol)...by which point the thread will immediately increase to about >100 pages, lol.

Oh gosh. I really want an early decision like Thursday except.....

that's my birthday. And a rejection letter would be a really REALLY bad gift.

Crossed fingers for Friday? :)
