What shall be the latest date by which I could send an important update. I know, that by now most of the decisions have been finalised, but it is something that will greatly help my application and may compel them to re review my application. Please help!!!
Did anyone else get an email from Columbia saying that they are likely to be named a Davis Scholar? And does anyone know exactly what a Davis Scholar is or how beneficial it is at Columbia?
@realityhitshard When did you receive it?
@DreamforIvy At 5:46 PM. I think this probably went out to people who got likely letters.
@realityhitshard Yup, I did.
@habdje Do you know what benefits we get? I did some research, but didn’t find anything solid. I also couldn’t figure out how Davis Scholars are different from Kluge, Jay, Global, Egleston, or Science Research Fellows.
@realityhitshard Not really - I was going to ask the same thing. I think between Kluge, Jay, Global and Davis, each one is for a different area (Davis is Fu College of Engineering, the rest are Columbia College). Science Research Fellows seem to also be from Columbia College. Egleston seems to be Columbia Engineering, but seems to be slightly more prestigious… there seem to be more details about that one online.
@realityhitshard @habdje I found a little more info on the scholars. This is copied from WikiCU:
“John W. Kluge Scholars: Awarded to minority students.
C. Prescott Davis Scholars: Awarded to students at SEAS.
Global Scholars: Awarded to international students.
John Jay Scholars: Awarded to students at Columbia College.”
Egleston is only for Engineering students. Science Research Fellows is for top science students, and it’s definitely one of the more (if not the most) prestigious scholar awards.
Long back got a mail to participate in global immersion programme. Its almost 1 mnth by now. Applied too… it was a fee waiver programme. Any one else got that or anything that type
@y90y90 Thanks for the info! So if I’m in SEAS and majoring in biomedical engineering, would I qualify for the Science Research Fellows? And do you know the difference between Egleston and Davis?

@USUG21 everyone got that

Would really appreciate your inputs Thanks!
@realityhitshard I’m not sure, although looking through past Science Research Fellows, I don’t see any engineering students, so maybe not. https://www.college.columbia.edu/academics/research/programs/srf/fellows/current
Egleston seems more prestigious than Davis just because it’s always mentioned separately from the other four scholars. They receive a lot of benefits, which are outlined on the website: http://engineering.columbia.edu/egleston-scholars
Wait, so do we have to apply or merit scholarships now or do they automatically add you in consideration after applying?
@johonmilla ivies don’t have merit based scholarships. I’m assuming you’re talking about the different Columbia Scholars, which you are automatically considered for when you apply.
@y90y90 , yes thats the one. Thanks for the info!
Does anyone know how to check if mid-year grades have been received? My school sends them through snail mail. I don’t see a specific spot on the portal?
@realityhitshard Yeah I got the Davis Scholar email too
