Received the Columbia College likely letter email today. I guess they are still sending them out. I know of another applicant in my area who also received it today.
I know that around the top 1 percent of the incoming engineering class get named an Egleston Scholar. First, you receive an email saying you have been nominated, then you have to submit a 150 word interest statement, and only after that do you get named an Egleston Scholar.
Should I be worried if I didn’t receive a likely letter?
@spicycactus
probably not but you should wait until 30 March.
still hasn’t received any interview invitation, should I be worried?? International applicant from China here, applied business management as my first major choice
Well guess you shouldn’t be. One of my friends used to work at the admissions office at Columbia and he said that the school has almost no interest in their interview feedbacks. It’s still a way to verify your English ability though, considering the fact that you are an international applicant.
I never got an interview invite. The other friend who also received a likely letter did not get an interview invite either.
Did anyone get the gap program invite email?
I was so excited when I saw ‘Columbia’ was the sender and I thought that maybe, just maybe, I was the late recipient of a likely letter. Turns out it was just the gap program invite. That was quite the rollercoaster of emotions right there.
Is there another round of likely letters this month before full decisions come out? Also, does anyone have any knowledge of how many applicants get in without receiving likely letters?
@dewrrrett I got the gap program invite email so I think they sent it to everyone.
@sozzle I’m not sure about how many Columbia sends out, but I know that most top tier schools only send around ~100 non-athletic likely letters. The vast majority of students that are admitted do not receive likely letters.
@Mosper What gap program invite email? I never received it…
it was about something like columbia college edge or something like that
I didn’t receive a gap program email either.
Could the gap year email invite be a sign? It would be so cruel if they sent us an invite for something that you can only do once you are accepted, only to be rejected. And from what I see here and among my friends, not everyone received the email.
It doesn’t mean anything — It’s sent to applicants because you marked something somewhere and they have your info. People who didn’t even apply to Columbia received it.
@dewrrrett from the looks of the program it’s not something just accepted students can do–it’s in the columbia summer program sections of the website (or whatever thats section is called)
Long back some ppl got global immersion programme invite…
yeah, i got that too
i got a likely letter too - i dont know of anyone else in my area who got it
i didnt get any of those invite emails from columbia
my friend who goes to columbia rn says that way more ppl are accepted without the letter than with it – so theres still a huge chance to get in!
edit: no interview for me either
GAP is a columbia engg programme and GIP is a columbia business programme. I think they r sending these invites depending on which college applied.
