I think last year, for one person, a couple days before the decisions were released their portal updated showing that they were rejected. However, that was just a glitch (they were actually rejected anyways). So, in short, there is no way to find out early, unless your portal glitches.
Now I don’t want to check if my number is there and psych myself out. 
Hey @lexluther96 it is nice to see you on this thread as well :). I’ve been accepted to UMich as well, but didn’t receive any financial aid. I hope Columbia will also be a positive answer
Wait omg guys I didn’t mean to start a panic about the id being gone I’m sure it means nothing, I just needed something to pin a rejection on and use that as a coping mechanism lol, sorry!!

@igotsunshine111 It’s ok, LOL. I am trying not to do the same thing, but I totally get you.
@med509 UMich gave me some, but way less than enough. I’m stoked about Cal though! Columbia pays for all need regardless of residency, so if you get in, they will. UMich was going to be about 43k for me, whereas Columbia would be 22k based on their calculator. It’s nice to see you on here, too! 
@lexluther96 I have accepted to the Environmental Engineering program which is one of the best of the country . But as an international student, I have to pay around 64k. Even if Columbua is not in the top10 for this major, i know they will help me better than UMich if I get in you know. It’s sad, but God Knows. I also applied for Stanford. Hopefully God will help me get in as well, as they offer need-based financial aid.
I’m so stressed lol. I feel like Columbia is really a gamble. Sometimes they take lower SAT scores and GPAs (for ivy league standards). I’m just glad they have a Waitlist cause that gives me more hope lol.
What about good gpa, test scores, essay but not great ECs xD
