**~Columbia University Fall 2017 Transfer Thread~**

Just submitted! Good luck everyone!

It’s difficult to say what credentials would increase any one person’s chances of getting in, as everyone who is applying will likely have similar stats. Plus there are other factors like competitive nature of specific programs, and available space in the class to consider.

@SunZhaoyu East Asian Studies sounds like a relatively specific major. You could always shoot an email to a professor in that department and give them a summary about your plans. They are usually happy to answer any questions or provide you with information about your program of interest. Making connections and networking is always important.

@aurora030 I wouldn’t view being an international student as a disadvantage. For one, you are proficient in multiple languages, and if you are worried about FA, Columbia has no shortage of funds. I recently visited the campus, and I believe one of the admissions staff said that Columbia provided $9 million in aid to international students this past year.

@terr24lr I think your extracurricular activities do well to complement your intended major. Plus it can be seen that you actively participated in things relevant to Business both in and after High School. I’ve never heard of something like a Student Conduct Board before; it sounds cool!

Best of luck to everyone!!

Has anyone gotten an email to set up their portal? I haven’t- any idea when it will come? Thanks

@terr24lr Hi! You won’t get an email. You have to go to the Columbia portal and press the “forgot my password” button to set up an account.

@lexluther96 Thank you!!! Will there soon be a checklist that shows what documents they have received or will they individually email us if they have missing information?

@terr24lr The application tracking will be available through the portal from March 15 to April 11.

Just curious. Does anyone’s High School Transcript not show up on the Application Checklist at all?

Yah same, everything that pops up it says it is received. However, it doesn’t show high school transcript. If everything says received with a green check, does that mean i am good?

My college transcript, apparently, was not received. If there is a green check, you are good to go for May!

Is anyone else not able to get into their transfer tracking?

I don’t see my secondary school transcript or my Common Application on the checklist. I’ve sent a message to Admissions asking about that

Mine is shown as “Secondary School Final…”. You should definitely give a call Asap guys

Please chance me for columbia!

If my application is very competitive or complete trash, let me know! Honesty is the best answer!
Let me know if I have weak things on my app that I can improve

@IvyLeague2 …how on earth did you improve your SAT score like that? You went from like below average to the 99th percentile…

inbox me @lexluther96. In addition, Can you Chance me?

@Med509 Do you think they could be combining both the High School Transcript and Final Report under that single heading as those two documents are usually sent together? Probably will shoot them an email today just to confirm.

@IvyLeague2 It’s difficult to know what the admissions staff will be thinking when they review an application. You have a diverse group of extracurriculars that includes everything from science to sports. You may not have done exceptionally well in your freshman year of high school, but Columbia, like many other schools, do holistic reviews of applications, meaning they take everything into consideration and no one area is a definite deal-breaker. As long as you give an explanation somewhere in the application, they can see you showed significant improvement from that time forward. Nice work on the SATs. I took them years ago and really only did above average on them; I wouldn’t entertain the idea of retaking them now.

As another person that is applying from a Community College, I wish you the best of luck.

@IvyLeague2 I’m having a hard time trying to inbox you from my phone. Can you send me a message? Also, I noticed that your recent SAT was taken in March of 2017. Will they accept that? All of the other schools I’ve applied to notes that January was the last session they’d accept.

@IvyLeague2 I’d say you stand a chance. They’re better with accepting CC students than comparable schools. Your college stats are awesome but they do look at HS stuff. If you have a reason for subpar HS stats, that’ll help. It’s honestly just really hard to know. Are you applying to a competitive major?

I’m applying to economics. People bullied me because of my name @lexluther96

Please chance me!
