Columbia University High School Program

Hey guys!
Just wondering if anyone knows anything about the Columbia University Summer Program admission rate, academics and overall how their experience was?
I am applying to I want to know how people's experiences were like.

Thanks!

bump; I’m specifically interested in the Understanding the Arab World program.

OH really ? Have you applied yet? Im actually applying to the New York one, and I have been trying to see what people’s experiences were like.

I applied to the New York program just this week. I am very interested in attending.
tennis- what class are you planning to take?

Bump, I have applied to this summer program, also. I have gotten accepted to Brown and Cornell, don’t know which one I should go to.

I applied to Explorations in Genetics and Molecular Biology and my second choice was Biological Conservation…how about you ?

Are any of you dorming?

bsktbll-
Brown and Cornell are two very great schools.
My older brother graduated from Cornell and if you ready to spend x amount of weeks in ithaca, be ready lol. On your way to Cornell you are in the middle of nowhere but, hence ithaca being a very small town. However once you get to the campus it is gorgeous. The campus is one of a kind. I know when I would visited I would never want to leave.

Depends how far you want to go. I mean Ithaca is about 4 hours from nyc

tennis- I am planning on housing there. I applied for Biomedical Engineering as first choice, and Explorations in Genetics and Molecular Biology. I was also wondering if you were applying for the first or the second section. I am applying for the first.

I am applying for the first session! Cross my fingers i get admitted…the program seems very cool and interesting. I am going to be commuting bc i live across the bridge 10 minute drive from Columbia. Have you heard anything about the acceptance rate is ?

I haven’t. I think it is about average with all other summer programs at college campuses, excluding the free ones (MITES, YESS). I assume above 50% and it depends on the class you sign up for.

I think you should read through this thread before you decide…

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/summer-programs/538843-finally-truth-about-columbia-university-high-school-program.html?highlight=columbia</a></p>

lol ive read that many times…
i feel like i want to see it for my self

From that thread it sounded like it has seriously improved over the span of years. I have no real problem with anything posted. I have attended many different levels of academic summer programs and this seems like the perfect mix of a lax atmosphere and personal study/ learning.

i agree…i wont believe until i actually experience it.

I applied the program as well. I’ve heard that the acceptance rate is quite low, everyone can get in well most people.
Anyone in session 2? I’ve signed up with the course thats “communicating with consumers” the one for public relations stuff like that. Anyone signing up that course?

hey!
I just got accepted into Columbia’s Summer Program also in NYC. I’m doing Issues in Biological Conservation, Session I; no dorming. You?

hey!
im picked Genetics and Molecular Biology as my first choice for session one no dorming
and my second choice was Issues on Biological Conservation.
Hopefully I get it !
I wonder what the acceptance rate is like?

congrats se3datxd! did you apply early decision? how long did it take for you to get your acceptance letter, from the time you submitted your application?

I got in first session. Biomed. It took about two and a half weeks since everything arrived in their hands.

have you been there before ? and if so, did you like it?
Is it hard to accepted into it ? ahh this is so nerve wrecking waiting for it
