Third, Columbia has always been a world-class educational institution, and before 1988 paid no attention to the criteria in USNWR because this report didn’t exist. before that time, Columbia was still ranked among the elite and was in the 'most competitive ’ category in Barron’s and Princeton Review list of colleges and universities.

No one denies Columbia has been around for a long time. You’re mostly arguing with yourself. Pandaboy1, meet Pandaboy1:

But most people would choose to attend Columbia. In the Ivy League it is the second most selective college with 3.66% admissions; and is clearly a college of choice after Harvard, Yale and Princeton within the Ivy League. And, USNWR ranks Columbia as Number 3 in national universities.

If a college is caught manipulating statistics on admissions and yield, that is a very, very serious matter and a condemnable charge. No self-respecting college would want that notoriety.

USNWR and all the other educational sites are well aware of this issue.

Most high school students I know are not thinking about jobs at age 17 or 18. They are socially conscious with what their peers in high school think. I hardly knw any high school students who do not pay attention to USNWR; and very few of them are thinking about employers. Nor are they disconnecting USNWR from how employers think.

You are talking about older, mature people in the work force, not high school juniors and seniors, nor even college freshmen.

I think the USNWR is more accurate. Most students and parents read this and this is what guidance counselors use for undergraduate naviance.; and fit when compiling a list of undergraduate colleges.
