I was wondering if there are any current or former Columbia MSW students that could help me figure out my chances of getting accepted to the program. I recently graduated from a large public university with a 3.6 GPA and BA in Social Work. I was fortunate enough to receive some amazing recommendation letters (two from former practicum supervisors and one from a professor). I also know that experience is really important when applying to these programs. During undergrad, I interned at a school for children with disabilities, with a school social worker, at an after-school tutoring and meal program for low-income children, and at my state’s LGBT advocacy group. While working with the advocacy group, I took on the responsibility of applying for and launching a SAGE affiliate (an LGBT aging resource program) in my state. I also have countless volunteer experiences and service hours outside of my practicums. Do these sound like things Columbia would be looking for? If you are a current or former student, do you think I have a good chance of being accepted?
Thanks!
