i hope u do

i read an old forum that said the SAT math part was really annoying because u had no calculator

they change it up every year though

i read an old forum that said the SAT math part was really annoying because u had no calculator

they change it up every year though

i think no calculator, cuz i remember a matrix question that i was like "dammit if i had a calculator i can do this is like 2 seconds."

and as for the acceptance rate, it varies a lot with each grade...but i think overall it's like 300/1000 per year. so ~30%...probably a little bit less, i think more than 1000 people tried out

i wonder if this really is big for colleges, though. they should do like one of those "who got into what schools" type thing for CSHP. Altho the people who get in probably don't get into colleges because of SHP, they're probably pretty smart to begin with.

i heard that this counts as an extra circular activity
it is just like community service probably.
this will look really good if u attend a really bad school and you were accepted here

It isn't really big. It isn't community service (why would it be?). I listed it as an extracurricular. Overall the program is well-intentioned and some people got really into the courses, but otherwise it really depends on how engaging the instructor is. Do it if you get in, but don't think too much of it.

OK, thanks. And yeah, It definitely wouldn't be community service, but I could see listing it as an extracurricular. So is there anyone here who is taking the test this year?

i am lol
this is my first time

I'm taking it too.... first time this year as a sophomore

I'm taking it for the second time. I failed last year pathetically, but this year I don't anticipate any trouble. Anyone get their admission ticket in the mail yet?

i'm taking it this year, but i still haven't gotten my admission ticket in the mail yet.

If I didn't know about SHP before, is it too late to do it senior year? (in terms of it mattering in college applications)

I haven't gotten my admission ticket yet, either. It's my first time taking the test, too. Well, obviously, since I was the one who started this thread and im a freshman.

I think they said they were sending out the tickets on March 25th? I could be wrong though.

OK, so we should be getting them soon. It's cutting it kind of close, though, isn't it?

For people who have already taken the test, what topics are most common on the science test? Because I've only taken biology so far, so I don't want to be completely clueless. And would you say it is more on general concepts or specific information?

im a freshman and the only class ive taken is physics

how should i study the other subjects?

I would say the science is general concepts and common sense.

physics
-study your CIRCUITS

chemistry
-stoichiometry
-titration equations

biology
-graphs, common sense
-some basic facts, more common sense

earth science
-rock cycle...
-types of rocks
-layers of the earth or something

math
-SAT math (learn how to change bases)
-AMC-type math

PS i dont think you can take this as a senior, if you're already a senior. but you can as a junior and it would matter for college, too.

does the biology cover genetics?

When you say titration equations...do you mean reading titration graphs or is there any more?

reading titration graphs and just knowing how to solve for stuff with the simple equations, like amount of base/concentration etc.
