Rny2- I am asking about the school you attend, not UIC.

No, we are not the same person. I was making a joke about UIC since the other person purposely misspelled Columbia. haha

From what I understand and if you do research on Chicago’s forum, you will see that most students complain about it not being known even in the relatively ‘small’ city of Chicago. There appears to be many occasions when a student from UC feels upset when people confuse it with that massive public school University of Illinois at Chicago. There’s also a relatively recent New York Times article about colleges and how they are marketing themselves and it quotes the dean of UChicago as stating that he feels too many people (i.e., applicants) see the school as second best and they want to change that perception to Columbia’s status.

Also,
, I assume you mean in terms of lowering its acceptance rate, right? Given that practically ALL APPLICANTS were admitted only 5 years ago, I can see why it has made tremendous strides in this department over the years…

OP is about to graduate and this is not the case
In all seriousness though, Chicago would need a well-established engineering program before this happens, so its gonna be at least 10-15 years.
Columbia’s transportation sucks…1 train never works on the weekend and don’t bother taking a bus in Manhattan. Morningside is nice, but it is still the DMZ between Harlem and the UWS
