I recently received an email from CU urging me to apply to their School of Gen. Studies. Since I am a non-traditional student, (25yr old) and am currently in Comm. Coll, this would be a dream opportunity. (I recently finished my 2nd sem. w/ 3.9 GPA over 30 credit hrs). I have numerous outstanding E.c's (Phi Theta Kappa, Mentor/tutor to peers and autistic, starting my own non-profit soup kitchen in a local resort town afflicted with addiction/homelessness).

Do you think I should jump at the opportunity and apply now, or should I see if I can get into another Top tier school? (i.e. Harvard, Princeton, Yale, UCBerkeley, UVA?)

The idea that most all of my financial need would be met at CU is amazing, also the housing provided in Manhattan is awesome.

P.s: I want to become a lawyer and go to the best grad school afterwards also…

BTW, I live in Maryland if and was planning on attending UMDCP if that matters. (But the thought of living in such a rich setting in CU’s Manhattan campus is VERY thrilling)

I’ve also just seen their Dual Degree program with Sciences Po ( a prestigious political science uni in Paris). I would love this (it allows you to get 2 degrees and study in France for 1st half of program and then Columbia in NY for last half). Should I apply now, or wait until I finish my AA degree at my CC? Is there any downside in applying too early/prematurely to such a program? Or could I just keep reapplying?
