columbia vs cornell - for someone interested in premed... what do you guys think?

Depends. At Cornell, you have many different schools where you could be pre-med (engineering, CAS, CALS, etc.) It depends on which college...Columbia has the college and SEAS. If you choose to apply to the college, you'll have a more core based curriculum (humanities, etc). If you apply to say Cornell CALS, it will be more centered to math and science. I'd say it's a preference choice.

You'll probably get into a grand premed program at either.

So the question is, what school would you prefer? Do you want a smaller number of students or larger? Do you want to be in a more rural area or smack dab in the center of NYC?

When it comes to premed or pre-anything programs, any school in the top 10 or 15 in the US is as good as the next one. Do you really think there is much of a difference in instruction between Cornell and Columbia?

In any of those schools, I think success in getting into med or law school has more to do with the person than the institution. Visit both and pick the one you like more, or the one that gives you the most money. They're both top-notch.

I'd pick Columbia just because I really like New York City.
