Columbia vs MIT

Hey guys! I plan on majoring in biophysics, which might be slightly better at MIT, but at the same time I am a track athlete (Columbia is D1 while MIT is D3). However, the track facilities are pretty far from columbia (the armory is 168th street). But at the same time I have heard that CC kids are much more well rounded as compared to MIT kids due to the core. My overall goal is to attend Med school after undergrad. Really conflicted at the moment, let me know what you guys think? THANKS :]

P.S I dont think I will ever go pro at track but being able to compete at a high level will be a great memory I'll always have

U have great choices. You can’t go wrong with either institution. If you are planning to be premed I would definitely recommend Columbia College for you, especially if you plan to be a student athlete. Columbia has an outstanding premed advisory program and strong support for student athletes. The opportunity to be on a D1 team is something that you will cherish your whole life. The workload at MIT is tremendous and there is little time for fun between p sets. In addition, the students at CC will be more well rounded than those at MIT. Part of the college experience is making great friends, memorable experiences and having time for fun as well as the academics. You can’t go wrong with either school Career wise but I think CC gives you more options. Lastly the alumni network is limitless.

Go to Columiba. It sounds like you want to have a real college experience. You’ll have nothing more memorable than D1 track, NYC, and the diversity of students that Columbia offers.

Leave MIT for graduate studies.
