Columbia vs UCLA Chemical Engineering MS

Hello,

I got admitted into both schools. I’m pursuing a master’s of chemical engineering. Here are some details:

  • Columbia is a non-thesis one-year degree.
  • UCLA is a thesis based two- year degree.

I have a full ride scholarship and I prefer staying longer in school. I like warm weather so I’m leaning more towards LA. I’m also planning to go to Law school after.

Now dilemma comes from my understanding that Columbia is a bigger more prestigious name not to mention it’s an ivy league school.

That’s why its hard for me to make the choice. What do you all think?

Please let me know.

Thanks,
Makita
