Com. College Courses for High Schoolers and AP Courses

My daughter is in an independent high school program through our local school district and they do not offer her honors or AP courses. We are concerned that when applying for colleges she will not have honors/AP and thus hurt her chances for admission.

We recently found a Cal State University that has a HS scholars program which will allow her to take various courses for both high school and college credit.

How do colleges generally look at these courses? Are these type of courses considered the same as AP Courses? Or, would it be better to take a few on-line AP courses?

Thanks in advance

I think they are viewed the same as AP courses, but it’s easier to get college credit via AP exam scores than it is via dual enrollment credit. That’s because colleges vary while ap exams are standardized, so the college knows what it’s getting. Why not consider a healthy mix of both online AP’s and dual enrollment for your student? What courses is she interested in taking? Where is she aiming for college?
