My adviser told me a com sci minor would definitely help me in grad school. On the other hand, I don't know if my future area of research will involve programming with C++. I'm a noob with programming, and I haven't been bothering to review what I've forgotten over the summer.

If I decide to keep the minor, it's going to be a lot of extra work, but the payoff may be beneficial.

If I decide to drop the minor, I can graduate in 3 years. But my freshmen GPA was terrible (low 3.0s), and It's impossible for me to get a 3.9+, only 3.8+, and I would feel kind of naked without a possibly useful minor to back me up.

My current ambition is to get 4.0s from here on and get within the top 5 in grad school (don't hate)

I F-ed up the title, hopefully you can piece it together

Yeah, you’ve kind of made it clear that you want this minor. Except for the fact that you cannot graduate in three years.
And I personally don’t think that the trade-off is worth it, unless you have a financial necessity and want to cut down a year no matter what.

yes, you’re right. I’m living at home, and I’m getting very, very sick of it. I’m trying to find the time to plan moving out.

Aside from the fact that I REALLY, REALLY want to graduate early, I’m also very new to programming. In my first programming class, I started with a completely blank slate. I went to the help room a ton, but eventually my circumstances took a toll, and I literally Failed it. I retook it.

Right now, I am just completely torn over this, because i feel like this is a very important decision - for various reasons. Personally, I haven’t gotten a hang of programming, and I’m really not looking forward to it. On the other hand, it may be beneficial.

I think a better question would be If I do get the minor, what will I do with it? How will it help me. I’m certainly not going to write big time apps, because the actual com sci majors do that.

Someone on another thread I made for this said that the minor would not matter in grad school admission. With that crossed out, it comes down to will I ever apply what I learn?
