Which is harder to get into: journalism at the College of Communications or the College of Arts and Sciences?

personally, i think they're even. my friends in com for journalism had the same stats i did and i'm in cas.

if you really want journalism you might as well just apply for it instead of getting into cas and switching to com doing more work when you could just apply there now

According to the stats, COM is.

SMG, COM, and ENG all have higher average stats that CAS does. However, there are definatley students in CAS with higher stats than students in those three colleges.

Thanks for the info. Can anyone provide me with any information that shows COM as having higher stats that CAS? And for admission, what is COM looking for most (e.g., test scores, grades, essay)?

The recently resigned / removed dean said the 2008 class averaged over 1390 SAT's and a 3.7+ gpa. I have no idea how they look at the applications

If the dean was referring to the overall class, then that statement is evidently erroneous.

The average SAT-about 1300- for the 2008 incoming class is listed below, along with the average GPA-3.49.

I assume they're talking about the dean of COM referring to COM, not to as BU as a whole, which I'm pretty sure doesn't have a dean in the first place.

Obviously.
