Com

Can someone give me some info about COM: prestige, course load, opportunities…etc.

Are you admitted and wondering? Because if you are, then you can talk to the people there and get answers.

COM is very well regarded but it has several departments: journalism, PR, advertising, mass communications, photo journalism (v. small), film, tv. Each has its own thing and emphasis. TV, for example, is not much like film and journalism doesn’t even want to be in the same college as PR. Course loads vary a lot by your department and things like how much credit you might get for AP / SAT2’s; COM has a standard distribution reqs list and you can get credit for some of that.

Boston is a major media market. Much of the staff in journalism, PR, etc. works in the field in the region. They have a number of practical courses - like AdLab or the tv station.

As for course load generally, COM is not ENG. Engineers have to work more.
