Combined pre-med/med schools

OK, so I'm in high school, but I know for a fact that I want to do medicine for a living. I've heard of some colleges that combine pre-med/med school so you just continue on (ex. VCU, Howard, UMich - Ann Arbor) and I'm wondering on how reputable programs like this may be? I know I really want to be a doctor, but I dont want to go to school forever, lol. I will if I have to but I want to take a chance at programs like these at good colleges. Do any other schools offer them?

They are as reputable as the medical school that they are affiliated to is. You end up with the same MD, you just don’t have to go through the application process and save some stress/$$$. They are extremely hard to get into, so be warned.

A book called the MSAR has a complete list (I believe its complete), but here’s a list as well. I recommend the MSAR because it has additional helpful info

[Curriculum Directories](http://services.aamc.org/currdir/section3/degree2.cfm?data=yes&program=bsmd)

UMich does not have it. Any Med. School in USA is reputable. All combined programs are extremely hard to get in and getting harder with each year. GPA needs to be very close to 4.0uw with superior SAT/ACT and some of them reguire SAT II’s. Good luck!

It seems that you want to go to a 6 or 7 year program. It’s not appropriate to say “I want to go to a good college” because, as MiamiDAP said, every medschool and program is extremely competetive. Northwestern University HPME (7 years) and Brown University PLME (8 years) are basically the best of the best (or at least the hardest to get in to.) But anything else is good. Penn State has a good 6 year program and George Washington and Boston University have 7 year progams. Also Drexel. Any med program is good but do what you feel is for you. Good Luck!
