Hey, I'm currently a junior in high school and was convinced to take the old SATs despite the fact most colleges will want the new ones. (getting scores back Fri.)

I've heard somewhere that you can combine your old SAT scores with your new ones and say, if you got a 600 on the new one in reading, could replace it with your 750 from the old one.

Is this true? and will many colleges accept this if it is? Just what's the deal in general.

My son's school is having the juniors take the January SAT. We were told that almost all colleges will use the math/verbal scores from the old test if they are good. They will also require the new SAT (not all, but most) with the writing section.

I think they are going to cut us a break since we are in an awkward position as a transition year. I am in the exact same boat as you; I took the December 4th SATs and also plan on taking the New SATs once or twice.

I see it this way: I'm bound to be better at either the old or new SAT math/verbal, so I will be able to take the higher score from both for the many colleges who will accept both interchangably. If not, they will just look at my New SAT scores. It can only help us.
