Come educate an Aussie / U of U College Qs

So, I'm coming over from Australia to U of U to do Animation. I'll be staying at the Sage Point dorms. Naturally I'm there to learn, but also am keen for a bit of party. Or a lot. Give or take.

I've already done a bit of snooping and there's a lot of mixed stories about what it's like at U of U. What can you get away with and what's the general atmosphere like at Sage/ U of U colleges in regards to parties? How much can you get away with as an 19 yr old on a dry campus?

And if anyone has any college tips and tricks for someone who doesn't know the first thing about it please regal me.

By U of U do you mean Utah?

Go to the U of U subforum in the alphabetic list of colleges.

FYI…The University of Utah is not listed in the subforum :frowning: My son will be a freshman there in the fall and will also be at Sage Point.

Yeah, I do mean U of U. As terinzak said it isn’t listed in the subforum :</p>

In general, Americans party less than Australians and are much more socially conservative. Be prepared for that.

Utah is still predominantly Mormon. About 3/4 of the students will not drink (or other) at all. They still have fun, just not as chemically altered. Any alcohol consumption will be done much more covertly than other colleges, and punishments will be more severe. They recently made their off-campus fraternities all acohol-free. My oldest considered it mostly because of its proximity to world-class skiing.

A non-LDS aquaintance went to both Utah and Utah State and loved his time there. He found his parties off-campus.
