Well it seems that our move-in will be severely impacted by Hurricane Irene this weekend. I am so deeply bummed about this because there is a lot of walking and stuff to be done. I just want to wail and carry on. Arrrrrrgh!!!!!

Told my daughter not to pack her rain boots away… we’re going to try to get some moving in done on Saturday afternoon… I also made a hotel reservation for Sunday night in case I don’t want to drive home on Sunday (will be by myself).

I’ll be at the Embassy Suites, LINYMOM, and booked to Sunday, but hopefully I’ll be done by Saturday because of Freshman Fest (which you originally told me about) so if you need a hand, call over.

Now we have no idea. I think I need to cancel my hotel arrangements. Depending on how bad the storm is and what happens in Newark, I guess move-in will be Mon, Tues or Wed. This is unbelievable.

We were/are on campus and it was put a bit stronger to us. . RAs are remaining, International students and students from distant states also. But we are told that there may be power outtages, damage, etc. Just ran into a freshman and her mother from Jamaica who couldn’t go back. Freshman Fest by Hillel will just be tonight, the rest canceeled. Sitting in the hotel now trying to decide whether to leave or stay, they say hurricanes here can be pretty bad. LOL, but will it be worse than where I live on a barrier beach of Long Island??

My D’s roomie moved in early to help with Move In day for freshmen. She returned home tonight! My guess is Wed. for move in for upperclassmen. My D was stunned that classes were already cancelled. NJ has already issued mandatory evacuations on our beach areas. I think the power outages in the aftermath will delay a lot of services. How long can you go without power? For days?

Has duel said that we absolutely cannot drop things off Saturday morning? We don’t live that far away and I will be out of the country for a week starting Monday. Major bummer here at our house. Daughter will be in Russell.

Just wanted to let everyone know that we moved our daughter into the Towers yesterday before they halted move-in. There are a ton of kids there who are planning to stay the duration. While they aren’t kicking anyone out, they did ask, if feasible to leave after setting up you room. Main Street was packed today with kids and parents as well.

Moved my freshman D into Rodney on Thurs and she is staying. I left this morning to head back to VT to get ahead of the storm. jaynebe is right, there are kids around and the RA’s have been cool about those staying.
