coming back to canada

Hello, I am a high school graduate in the U.S but I was born in Canada, I have been living here since I was 5 and am now 18 im running into citizenship problems and do not have the means to pay for it and neither does my father I want to go to college in Canada since i have no other choice my mother is also in Canada but my big question is: even though i have been going to school in the U.S for all of my life would they consider me an international student even though i was brought here by my parents? or will i be able to get the benefits of a Canadian citizen or will they consider me to be U.S. please help because Im to young to be dealing with a problem so big and i dont know the first place to start.

If you are a Canadian citizen, you will be paying domestic tuition, not international.

What do you mean by “citizenship problems”. Are you a dual citizen? Did your parents renounce your Canadian citizenship when you moved to the US?

For admission you will be evaluated as an American applicant but upon providing proof of Canadian citizenship you will be charged the Canadian tuition.

You will be considered a Canadian citizen for tuition purpose, internationally educated - and since there are MANY students who were enrolled in us style systems they typically have a good idea of your qualifications.
Look at McLeans tables and apply to a few in each category.
Also, do you have a visa or a green card (permanent resident) in the US?

Thank you so much!! I have the same issue. I will definitely be applying to UWaterloo and was not sure what tuition I would be paying because I was born in Canada, moved to US when I was 4, and have a dual-citizenship in both Canada and the US.

Just to clear though - when I apply to uWaterloo, will they look at my transcript as if I were an international student (I didn’t take courses that were required for Canadian students)?

@MYOS1634 please read the message above - I forgot to tag you, sorry!
