Coming from a small and lackluster private school, please chance me!

<p>I’m in the same boat as you, as I write poetry and realistic fiction, and there is the feeling that regardless of how much you accomplish it will still look miniscule in the face of scientific research. The issue is that there is very little validity left to having something published, even by renowned publishing firms. If you take a quick look around the internet you can see that even the most vile of vile pieces can get published, successful research is generally more exclusive. However, by all means, having something published is a plus, but as long as standards for publication remain low then the appearance of a published piece will remain relatively low when the benefits on a college app are concerned. Again, some schools will have a view that is more willing to look at specific pieces of writing and judge ones ability on that, but they are few and far between.</p>

<p>you look great. a college will judge you in the context of your school. so if you are taking the hardest course offerings your school has than you are fine.</p>
