Coming out to Graduation in May.. Help

Son is graduating from USC in May. I have been to USC a couple of times but have not stayed close for the night. usually stayed in Pasadena on weekends but don't like the looks of the commute on a friday Morning from there

I am not really interested in Downtown and many of the better hotels are sold out anyway. I was thinking the Beverly hills area for an easy commute on Friday Morning to graduation. Google maps says the comute is about 25 minutes in traffic from Residence Inn Beverly hills.

Is the 10 a decent commute if I left at, oh say 6:30AM for USC?

There is also a comfort inn in Koreatown on S Vermont Street near the 101 but the reviews seem mixed anyone know that hotel?

Thanks

(can't believe how fast 4 years went. He even has a job all lined up Wooohooo)

Congratulations to you and your S!! I think no one who knows L.A. traffic would ever suggest that the 10 is a decent commute at any time! But leave a little earlier (even 6:10) and you should be better off. Or take surface streets since Wilshire or Olympic are more commercial/business streets and before 8 a.m. not much local traffic. There will be a lot of traffic flowing into SC for commencement and you’ll want to get there early for parking/seating.

Fight on! And great news about his job! Did he nab it through USC?

The 10 will be fine at that time (as long as there isn’t an accident), however, the parking situtation at USC could be sketchy. Leave a few minutes earlier to make sure parking is easy.

Yes he interviewed on Campus and then the company flew him into San Jose for a second Interview. USC served him well :)

Thanks for tips keep them coming

Just read about the other option. I’d choose the commute on the 10 over the 101 (which is my commute when I don’t take the train in). That early in the morning there is usually very little traffic going east. The 101 however is always crowded.

I don’t see a problem with the 10 at 6:30. Actually, I think you’ll have more traffic in BH than anywhere else.

If he did come in from Pasadena in the morning, what time should he leave to be at USC at 7 AM? I’m looking at the same situation, thanks.

From Pasadena I’d leave at 6:15 to get to campus and park by 7am. Again, the traffic will be light, but the parking at USC is nuts that morning.

Alternatively, if he’s near the Gold Line he could take the train into Union Station and the USC shuttle to campus. No parking craziness.

Thanks very much trojanchick!

Yep. Thanks Trojanchick, madbean, and victoriaheidi

I thought about taking Wilshire all the way to vermont and then down to USC. Probably will do the 10 though
