Monty Python's Eric Idle to deliver 2013 Whitman College Commencement address- Whitman College

True story, I actually met him during Family Weekend when he was just hanging out at the campus center. Come to Whitman everybody!!! You might meet Eric Idle!!!

Wow, Whitman’s even cooler than I thought! I hope the audience breaks into a rousing rendition of “Always look on the Bright Side of Life”.

Inigo Montoya’s son also went here, just FYI And honestly, I wouldn’t put it past Whitman to randomly break into song! Especially at a big event like commencement.

Hehe! Cultural icons (and their progeny) abound.

Whitman will be streaming their graduation ceremony on their website.

PacNW, thanks! I was feeling blue about missing it, now I’m happy.

Saturday Eric Idle gave the campus a talk about comedy, classic. Here’s the link: [From Monty Python to Spamalot: A Discussion with Eric Idle on Livestream](http://new.livestream.com/WhitmanCollege/ericidle)

Thanks for the link! My son went to the talk.

Unfortunately, my son arrived after the hall had run out of room. Had I been there we would have arrived very early!

And what do you know, Idle ended the ceremony with his own rousing rendition of “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life”. Perfect!

It really was the best graduation ceremony I’ve ever been to, and Eric Idle was perfect!

kolijma, congratulations to you and your graduating daughter! What a great way to finish up 4 years at Whitman. Good luck to her on the next steps of her journey. Please come back and check in on those of us still here, you’ve always had great insights to share.

Thank you Bopambo. I have always appreciated your intelligent comments in these forums, and good luck to your son in his senior year!

I watched the live stream. Loved it. SO much better than the speaker my daughter’s year, Juan Williams. No comparison. So many great moments. And @bopambo, he DID lead everyone in a rousing version of Always look on the Bright Side of Life!
