Thank you for the reply! I am aware of that hahah I would be soooo happy if I can get into one of them :D!!! Yup and it looks like you are from london.
Okay thanks! So what about my chance of getting in the rest of my schools? I am only assuming I may get 2000+ but… you never know… will this list still work if i get 1900 or lower?
Are you a senior? If so these are my suggestions assuming your latest SAT does not improve. My overriding suggestion is to limit state schools. If you are paying top dollar, do so at a private school.
Remove: Michigan, UCLA, UCSB, UCSD, Tufts
Add: Case Western, University of Rochester, Lehigh and Lafayette.
This leaves Lafayette, NYU, Case, Rochester and Lehigh as reaches.
The University of Rochester, mentioned, would make a nice reach for you. Though whether UR or any of your current choices is a good actual match for you will depend on whether your schools represent a chosen theme or just a random mix. For a beautiful, smaller school in a natural setting, consider St. Lawrence, also mentioned. Denison, Connecticut College, Union and Trinity (CT) are other possibilities for rough matches. William & Mary, one of your “match” schools, would probably be among your top three in selectivity, and should be viewed accordingly.
Will you know your scores in time to make some last minute adjustments? There is, of course, a big difference between an 1860 and a 2150.
It’s important to do a realistic assessment of what schools are within your reach. However, it is equally or perhaps even more important to find the right fit for the individual student. Please, please do your homework in thoroughly researching each school before deciding to apply.
Shameless plug here but we do a podcast of college profiles. We are finished with the Ivies and recently posted profiles on Rice and Duke. You get a general overview/history/profile of each school with some edgy comedy. You can find our podcast on iTunes or Sticher (on Android phones). Each episode is about 30 min long so whether you are a student or parent, you can listen to them at your leisure or during a workout/commute.
I think you will get in to the University of Washington. I think you will probably like it! You might also look at Seattle University, which is private, and also in Seattle. The average SAT there is 1735. Another Washington State private school that is really excellent, and will be a match if you do get a 2000 ish SAT score is Whitman, in Walla Walla. Everyone I know who has gone there loves it. Whitman’s avg SAT is 1977.
