Comments please on select Florida LAC's and smaller Universities

Sunny...I hope you will post your impressions of Florida Gulf Coast University if you get the chance to visit. This was one little state school that to us had a lot of potential. The designer's of the school took all the best attributes of the UF system schools and put them all together and it was quite impressive for a regional newer school. While program wise, it wasn't for my son, he will tell you that he knows he could have been happy there.

Sunny,
Have you checked to see if any Florida schools offer a direct entry program for freshman into the PT program. I am not familiar with the south as we only were looking in the NE. It is a HUGE advantage for those that know PT is where they want to be. Typically, those programs finish quicker than the traditional 7 years. But the biggest advantage is not having to enter the ultra competitive PT grad school competition, not to mention seriously worrying about undergrad grades, GRE's, essays, rec, applications, etc, etc. The programs I am familiar with accept you as a freshman and as long as you maintain gpa (3.0) and stay on track you are guaranteed to stay in the program through DPT. I would suggest checking to see where these are offered in Florida.

Sunnyflorida, I know from visiting that UT,UM,and USF (both of these NOT small, sorry)offer excellent AT programs.

My next door neighbor's daughter goes to Florida Southern. She is home almost every weekend. I have heard that alot kids leave on weekends, so you should be aware of this.

Sorry,Candace, I meant U of So.Fla.(not Southern Fla.) for AT.
