Commiserate here: Rejections...HS Class of 2009

Anyone received rejection letters from CMU (Musical Theatre) or CMU (Acting)???

Still waiting for a decision from CMS acting

I meant CMU Acting

My assumption is that they have notified all of their acceptances, but just haven’t gotten their rejection letters out??

Nothing shows up on the “Check the status of your application” page either – no decision, no indication that a letter has been sent

Historically, the admissions decisions from CMU are around April 1. However, those who were accepted have been called already. The admissions notifications will come out soon. If you have not been called to be notified of your acceptance, you are likely going to get a denial letter and there is a chance you will get a wait list letter.

Same here:( We read on this site where people were hearing of calls being made for Musical Theatre. Just hadn’t heard much of anything about the Acting Program, which my daughter asked to be considered for as well. We aren’t expecting an acceptance at this point. My daughter was very sick when she auditioned-not her best. Just wanting some closure. Good Luck to you!

shelleybug…I believe the calls for acceptance for acting at CMU have also been made. I have read of some. I also know someone from our area who is accepted for acting at CMU.

That said, when my D auditioned for MT at CMU four years ago, she got a Priority Waitlist package and financial aid offer from CMU by mail around April 1 for ACTING.

If I recall correctly, her status on the website did not change prior to getting this package in the mail.

Thanks Sooziet. I guess we can still hope for a watlist. She has been accepted to two great schools and we are certainly greatful for that!

I have a question about walk-ins at the unifieds. Do they send a rejection letter as well? If they were interested would they have let her know imediately after the unifieds?

 • just wondering what the protocal is.

My young friend got his official acceptance letter to CMU today. But he knew he was in because he was admitted from precollege. But just wanted people to know that letters are on their way …

Sorry, misspelled protocol! LOL!

Anyone received any rejections from USC?

My D got a rejection for BFA, but acceptance for BA from USC

I’m just gonna share my stats here so we all feel a little better =] “Declined” by Temple’s MT concentration, Pace BFA MT, Marymount BFA Acting/BA Theatre/MT Minor, UArts BFA MT, Syracuse MT, Emerson MT, BoCo MT, and CMU MT. Phew. However, I was accepted everywhere I could have been academically (for Syracuse, CMU, Emerson etc I indicated no 2nd choice major) with large merit scholarships at each and also accepted to Muhlenberg (BA Theatre) and Ithaca (BFA Acting with large talent scholarship), for which I am VERY grateful =] Of course, I’m STILL WAITING to hear from NYU/Tisch, which is my #1 and PRAYING that I get in…so don’t lose faith anyone! We’ll all end up some place great. Theatre people are crazy haha. Who knows what they were looking for?

Best of Luck with you dream, Epoknee27! Your spirit is wonderfully uplifting!

Epoknee if you have read the past couple years applications to colleges are at an all time high. You can’t even take the stats of GPA and ACT/SAT anymore because of the volume of applicants the bar has been raised everywhere - and I’m talking academically outside of the BFA competition. For you to receive those academic acceptances - especially to a college such as CMU which is ranked among the tops in the nation is indeed a reason to dance around the room and give yourself a real hard pat on the back.

It’s nice to hear people who have been rejected that still have an uplifting attitude. I was rejected from UArts MT, Emerson MT, Syracuse MT, Temple MT, and BoCo MT. I was accepted at American for a BA in MT (where I’ll probably be going) and Ithaca for BFA Acting. I really want MT and I love Washington D.C. so that’s why I’ll probably end up choosing American. I’m still waiting to hear from NYU (my #1 too!) but if not, I’ll keep with the spirit of Epoknee and stay positive. Good luck to you Epoknee, I’m waiting for NYU with the same nervous anticipation!

MusicEtc – The head of American’s MT program (Carl Menninger) is a very close friend of one of my dearest friends. He is really amazing and putting the program on the map. He’s highly connected to all of the powerhouse theatres of Washington – he knows everyone. In addition, he is well known for really helping out his students. He’s quite committed to them. You’ll be making a good choice to go to AU.

It’s also my alma mater (I went there in the dark ages for journalism). Great school, great location, great program. No offense to Ithaca – but AU is far lovelier and you cannot beat going to school in Washington DC. FANTASTIC theatre city nowadays … Signature, Arena, Kennedy Center, Shakespeare Theatre and so much more. You’ll love it!!

Congrats on 2 great acceptances.

I just found out I got rejected from CMU. I knew I wasn’t accepted when I wasn’t called, but I was holding out incase there was a miracle and I got on the waitlist.

This was the last school I had to hear from. I am finally done stressing about the mail, and it feels great to be able to relax and know that I made it through this crazy process with a few acceptances to great places, even if I didn’t get into some of the “top schools.” :)

Congratulatons, musicislife. Breathe out and enjoy your success. Now that it’s over, you can begin to look forward instead of peering daily into the mailbox. It’s a great feeling, isn’t it?? ;)
