commitment to writing

Which schools (LAC/university) have a strong commitment to writing across all subject areas? I'm not talking about strong creative writing departments. My D. is interested in Journalism, but would rather go to a small liberal arts college or medium-sized university, rather than the large schools that have actual Journalism schools.

Writing Across the Curriculum
Each student is required to take two courses that are designed as Writing Intensive or Writing Enhanced, at least one of which must be Writing Intensive. Writing Intensive courses are those in which writing occupies a central position in the student's learning, from the perspective of the discipline in which these courses are offered. In Writing Intensive courses, students both explore and articulate course matters through significant writing activities. Writing assignments provide students with frequent writing experience and the opportunity for critique and revision. The Writing Intensive designation is most suitable for enrollment-limited courses.
Writing Enhanced courses are courses in which writing is used to enhance the learning process but is not necessarily a main focus of the class. Writing assignments may be similar to those in Writing Intensive courses, but will provide fewer opportunities for revision and a smaller variety and number of assignments. The Writing Enhanced designation is most suitable for large courses, courses in which performance is the main vehicle for articulation and evaluation, or courses based on mathematical or scientific language.
