Committing to 2 schools??

Hey ok so i have a pretty solid track record of A’s and B’s (split right down the middle, and I’ve never gotten a c). This year I’m in some pretty challenging classes (ap Chem for one) and I have this issue in another ap I’m in (I’ll either get a b or high c or it’ll be expunged from my transcript, long story). Anyways it looks like I might get a D ap chem… Maybe not, but it’s a good possibility… Anyways, if my college resends my admission I won’t know till June right, but I got accepted to another school that definitely wouldn’t resend my acceptance. I was thinking about committing to both (ones on common app, the other isn’t). Do you think I’ll get in trouble for this? It’s such a legitimate reason I feel, I don’t want to end up at community college because I get my admission resent when I can’t do anything about it.

rescind your acceptance. And no you absolutely should not commit to two, because as you very well know, that is not allowed. Both of them will rescind you if they find out. Raise your chem grade to a C, but if you’re very sure you can’t, you need to email your admission officer right now and let them now you may be getting a D. It puts you in a better light as opposed to reading it on a transcript. Do NOT accept two school’s offers! Why do people keep asking questions like this? Colleges do not set up these rules just for the lolz. Email your officer.

Is it really not allowed? Why is there the deposit that’s not refundable? What do waitlisted students do?

Hopefully the counseling office at your high school has more integrity than you do and will refuse to send final transcripts to two schools

Yup; it’s really not allowed.

OP, as scary as it is, you need to call your admissions rep for your college and ask what would happen if you got a D in AP Chem. Right now you’re dealing with possibilities, not certain knowledge, about being rescinded. Make the call. It will be a weight off your back, one way or the other.

Then you need to go talk to your AP Chem teacher and find out what you need to do to ensure that you get at least a C. Don’t put this off–again, this can be painful and embarrassing but you will feel better afterwards. Follow his or her advice. Put in the work that’s necessary to accomplish this. If you must, you can let your other class grades drop to B’s (instead of A’s); B’s look like a mild case of senioritis but a D can be more serious.

It will be OK. You’re far from the only student who’s found themselves in this situation.

BTW the folks on waitlists lose their deposit if they end up being admitted off the waitlist after depositing at another school. It happens.

Do students who accept spots on waitlists have to send deposits? I thought it was free to accept WL spots and students only pay if they’re accepted AND they commit to going to that school.

OP, definitely ask your GC to contact your first choice school in time for you to commit to your 2nd choice if your first choice rescinds your acceptance. Good luck.

You do not send a deposit to a school that has you on the WL; you do send a deposit to your second-choice school. You will lose your deposit to said second-choice school if you get off the WL for school #1 and choose to enroll there.
