Can a student use both the Common and Coalition App? The Common App has a max of 20 schools and I am wondering if the Coalition App can serve as an alternative for students wishing to apply to more than 20 colleges.
Why exactly do you need to apply to 20 colleges?
Lol
@usualhopeful - To compare financial aid packages! Are you able to answer the original question?
If you can pay for over 20 applications, financial probably isn’t that much of an issue
@billybobby54 Fee waivers…
Bump to anyone who can actually answer and not question my intent…
The coalition app is brand new this year. No one has any experience with it or knows exactly how it works.
I don’t see a reason why you couldn’t use both, and it looks like the Coalition app doesn’t say anything about it on their website, so you should be fine combining them.
You can combine them.
Also, many applications are free.
(many lower income students and students whose efc is nowhere what their parents can pay end up having to apply to lots of colleges for financial aid reasons.).
@MYOS1634 Thank you for understanding the intent and sharing the information on lower income students. This was the strategy told to me by similar students and parents in our district and they all applied to more than 20 schools.
And sorry that I judged your intent; it’s a very good strategy for students with high need, I just tend to assume prestige-hunting on CC.
@usualhopeful Thank you and glad you were open to another perspective.
