I have just created my Common App account for applying to colleges for Fall 2018. I selected my colleges but when I was going through the deadline I found that all the deadlines are for Fall 2017. Is this my mistake while entering my info or is that the common app has not yet started for 2018?
If the common app has not yet been refreshed for 2018, does this mean that the topics of writing supplements are also for Fall 2017 and not Fall 2018?
I just asked my son’s guidance office this very questions. They told me to wait until after July 1st to open it. Apparently that is when the new application cycle starts.

7. Share an essay on any topic of your choice. It can be one you’ve already written, one that responds to a different prompt, or one of your own design. [New]
It does. But I’m fairly confident that the essay prompts follow a different cycle, to enable rising seniors to get those essays started over the summer.
