Common App Accident...

This was incredibly stupid of me (there's no other way to describe such a thing), but I honestly accidentally did not submit my 500 character "Why Yale" essay. I had drafted it in a word document a few weeks previously, and unfortunately forgot to copy & paste it into the Common App form... I was in kind of a rush last night and clicked "Save & Check for Errors" and naturally, it didn't come up with anything because this essay isn't "required", and submitted it. Half an hour later I realized what I had done. Should I contact the office and fax it, or is there nothing I can do at this point? Please help me if you can!!

Getting in touch with the office (which might not even be open) is probably your best bet at this point.

Sorry for robbing this thread a bit, but I have a question that is along the same lines.

So, firstly, I forgot to mention that I was team captain of my travel baseball team (I forgot the captain part) and that I was MVP of the past season.

Also, on my Yale and Columbia app I put ‘Le OBA Certified Umpire’ instead of ‘Level 2 OBA Certified Umpire’. I don’t know what I did to result in that.

Why questions are what can I do at this point to a) notify them of the captaincy and MVP award and b) make the edit/fix that

Someone said that there is a part on the MidYear to ‘update’ ECs, etc for students to do. Is this true? I guess I could explain the additional info. and typo on this form if it does exist.

If not, what do I do? Should I email them?

You’re best bet is to email the two schools individually and ask them to mark the difference on your record. Just explain it was a minor oversight in your Common App and they should be ok. The MYR is generally for ED and EA people to update information and grades, etc., your MYR should be part of the original application they review.

Also, you should not be sending your MYR anyways; you’re not supposed ever to see it (to the best of my knowledge), and your guidance counselor ought to be taking care of it.
