Common App Activities

If I were to be involved in 15 total activities (including volunteering and working), and 6 of them were music-related, would I group the 6 music activities in one activity slot on my app? I am passionate about all of my activities: show commitment, carry multiple leadership positions, invest countless hours, etc. and would like to list all of them on my application. However, music is my number one passion and I definitely wouldn't want to undermine the importance and impact it has had on my life by squeezing 6 separate music related ECs into one slot. What should I do in this situation? Is it best to prioritize my ECs and just list the 10 most important, or take the former option of listing multiple ECs into one "activity" slot on the common app?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Prioritize and list the 10 most important. You can list more in the additional comments section if you feel so moved. However, 10 important EC’s is plenty,

Thanks. Do you think it’d be wise to list my 6 music related activities and 4 others, or hold back and only list 3-4 music ECs so it’s not a complete overkill?

I would prioritize in terms of what you are most proud of. It’s not so much what it is as what you did with it. Music activities can demonstrate skills beyond just music, but it’s hard to say without knowing what the 6 activities are. Maybe some can be combined, or worked into a common app essay. Feel free to PM me with more info.

@qialah Mine aren’t actually music-related at all (just used it as an example). Same scenario, though. Could I PM you with my stats/activities and ask for feedback on what I should regarding prioritizing my activities? Thanks in advance.

You may be overthinking this, but happy to try to help.
