Hey guys, quick question: on the common app, it only has space for 10 "activities", including extracurricular activities, internships, and volunteerism. If I can't fit all of the above in the 10 spaces given, is there any way i can attach an additional resume? I feel like I'm losing out on parts of my high school experience because I can't fit in some of the other important things that I did.

If your ECs and volunteerism actually are extraordinary – true leadership, team-building, and exceptionally positive results that are thoroughly documented – than this could be the foundation of a strong essay (which should incorporate all your applicable activities) that potentially distinguishes you from the 30,000+ '19 Duke undergraduate applicants who are also unusually talented, accomplished, and have great potential. However, it is CRITICAL that you make a compelling case to differentiate your experiences – and what they imply for your future at Duke and beyond – from the approximately 95 percent of admissions candidates who will have very strong scholastic and non-academic records. Further, your counselor’s recommendation should follow-up on this essay theme, both substantiating your claims and endorsing your remarkable achievements.

Trust me, there’s no way you have more than 10 impressive extracurriulars that are truly worth mentioning. Even my friends who went to Harvard and Yale had less than 10 on their apps. Just mention the ones you are most proud of and don’t mention the useless ones because everyone has those.
