Okay, so I am currently filling out the “activities” part of the common app. It asks for hours per week and number of weeks but most of my activities aren’t really on a fixed schedule. For example, I have to do 40 hours for NHS a year but I do hours here and there but not on a weekly basis. Should I just put “4 hours a week for 10 weeks” or something like that? It’s the number of hours I have to do but it’s not on that schedule. What should I do?

First, you should know that anything you fill out on the common app today will be deleted when the app resets on August 1st. You’ll lose your data as it can’t be saved from one admission cycle to the next. Second, you might want to average out any school related activity per week of the academic school year since it is a school related activity and NHS doesn’t meet over the summer. So you would enter average hours per week (probably 1) for X number of weeks of the school year. Ultimately your GC should know how others from your school enter that information so check with him/her.
