Common App Activity Descriptions

Hi Guys,

Although I print previewed when I submitted my common app, I assumed that the activity descriptions would show up in full on the college's "version," a theory which I have since realized is majorly flawed.

Only a few words got cut off in each, and the major portions are left intact. Is it worth bothering Yale with emails adding in those extra few words? Am I royally screwed or should this not be a problem? I know the common app schools are aware of this "limit," so would notifying them only irritate them and clog up my file or would it actually add to my application.

Thanks

Don’t worry about it, I made the same mistake and Yale told me this is one of the least important essays. Just email or send them the full version just in case.

How is it an essay? It’s like, 10 words, 15 words max.

I was referring to the “10-15” word descriptions under each of the 12 allotted activities, not the go more in depth about one activity in the writing section. These description sections have a set character limit which is not reflected in the pdf version.

Oh sorry I thought you meant the activity description. Whoops

Yes, I also thought the “versions” downloaded by colleges would have the full descriptions and that the print previews were flawed. So I didn’t bother to make my activity descriptions any shorter to fit the spaces. I hope this doesn’t cause too much of a problem.

I made the same mistake, but I don’t think it’ll make that much of a difference.
