I mailed my application yesterday for Yale EA. But after thinking about it I realized that my EC list might be a bit misleading, for lack of a better word.
During the tenth grade my participation in 2 clubs were very minimal, often limited to attending meetings. On the Common App where it asks for Hrs./Wk and Wk/Yr, I put 1/30 and 2/30. In other words, it looks as if I spent 1 or 2 hours EVERY week on each club when I did not. Meetings were usually monthly.
What do you guys put down for clubs that dont convene or have activities every week?
Should I contact Yale and clarify this situation, or ask them to not consider the information that I gave for those two activities? Am I allowed to do that?
Also, can I send artwork if it is not in the form of a slide?
<p>"Approximate time spent" isn't a very complicated question. It's asking you for how much time you spent in the club, not how long the club existed.</p>
<p>So if I was a member of the clubs for 30 weeks, it is incorrect to put 30 in the "wks/yr"
column? All this seems trivial to me.</p>
<p>I really feel as though I should contact the Yale office and clarify, because if I presenting information that is incorrect I need to amend it. Is this is a good idea or not?</p>
<p>I think the 1 hr/wk suggests that your participation was minimal and that you basically just attended meetings. I don't think it's a huge problem. If you hadn't sent it in, I'd say change it for sure, but it's not a big enough deal to call. It won't make a difference between accept/reject, and if they found out that you met less often somehow it wouldn't be an automatic reject. Don't worry about it.</p>
<p>The activities do look insignificant as I had written them anyway. But I'm still uneasy about it so I think I will contact Yale anyway. But it really won't make the difference between accept/reject as you said.</p>
<p>I really don't think they're going to personally contact each and every club sponsor to verify that you did in fact spend X number of hours in a club. Now, if you had said that you'd gotten a 1580 on the SAT when you really got a 1200, THEN we'd have ourselves a conundrum.</p>
