I'm filling out the extracurriculars part of the common app, and I don't know how to respond to the weeks spent per year thing. Most of my ecs are ongoing, or I just started them this school year, so what, do I only put 2 weeks or something even though I intend to continue them throughout the year. For example, I've been volunteering at this hospice for about a month now, but I'm planning on volunteering there for at least several more months. So do I put like 4 weeks or 12 weeks or what? Or this club called HOPE, which just started up last week, or chess club which I joined 3 weeks ago, etc. I'm going to apply early decision to a school by November, so if I can only put how many weeks I've already spent on an ec, a lot of my ecs are going to look like I haven't spent very much time on them.

If they look like you haven’t spent a lot of time on it, it’s because you haven’t. The adcoms will know you’ve only been doing the activity for twelfth grade because you will indicate that on your application. My advice is to be as honest as possible and use your judgment.

So just to be clear, I only put the amount of weeks I’ve been participating in that activity at the time of filling out the application? I guess that sounds fair enough, haha.
