Common App Cutting off my activity descriptions!!!!

Maybe this is a dumb question, but why is it that when i preview my common app, all of the activities in which I used the max character count are cut off. Like you can't read what is written after a point because it chops it off. Is this just in the preview, or do I need to shorten my descriptions. Why would it let you type more than it will display???

Write in fragments.

ok, sadly that doesn’t really answer my question. Does anyone else have this issue, I mean I don’t get why the thing would let me enter that much text only to crop it on the preview??

It is an issue everyone is dealing with. The most common advice is to keep your statement short enough to be read in preview.

well that sucks, how could Commonapp make such a blunder.

i understand perfectly how you feel it happened the same to me.What i did is that I wrote all my activies in the activies part but at the end i wrote see attachmente #1 and then in the writing section in the part you can upload extra information i upload a document in word where i explan all my actitivies

happens to everyone. mine cuts off, but the most important stuff was seen, so its fine. just summarize in a few words

It has a character limit, but I believe in the print preview and real print version the adcoms get, some characters are bigger than others. So depending on the letters used, there’s a good chance you can’t write up to the character limit.

If you put stuff on only some activities in an attachment, should a note be added on the common app activities section for those activities stating “See Resume” then?

It’s not a blunder. Application readers don’t need or want your elaborate descriptions of your activities.

Frankly, the schools where ECs matter for admission will only care if you truly have an outstanding EC or two.

A laundry list of clubs is commonplace. But so it is with most applicants. And most colleges don’t care *anything *about applicants’ ECs.
