Was the deadline extension exclusively for those having difficulties on CA, or is it for everyone? Are you supposed to prove you are having difficulties?

Common app EA is still due by 11/1 (in TX). Even other colleges which extended the due date by one week show original due date in common app. This is the common app system issue. I also assume the due date was extended to 11/8.
But I asked my D to complete her application before 11/1 if possible although the date was extended.

I’m wondering about this too. It’s been 5 days since the last post here and I still don’t see a change on CA. An essay can never be too polished so ideally I would like to hold off submitting my app until the night before the deadline even though I’m not one of those people who experienced problems with CA.

I emailed the admissions department about this earlier this morning and if I get a response I will post it here. I want to know as well, and that tumblr link doesn’t work.

"The deadline for Early Action applications has been extended to November 8, 2013 for those experiencing technological difficulties when submitting their application and supporting materials. Please contact us at collegeadmissions@uchicago.edu, or call 773.702.8650 if you need assistance.

Please note that our Early Action financial aid application deadline is also November 1. If you should need additional time to complete your admission application due to technological difficulties, you may submit aid documents after the priority date."

So, I called the admissions department in the afternoon, and the sense I got from the person on the phone was that they would like people to submit their apps by the November 1 deadline. So I would suggest that, regardless of the extension, you should still try an submit your app before the 1st, unless you are one of those experiencing difficulties and actually need the extension.
