Common app essay about high school topic help?

I am still thinking of a topic and after I choose one i will choose a memorable event.
I am pretty sure my ideas are too generic :((
1.
im going to write about a day in my school (not a usually suburban one)
still figuring out which day (probably from senior year)

or
2. my room
Whenever I am home I am usually alone so I can write about how I got my own room and how it represents me.
or
3.my subway ride to school

I think it’s okay to write about ordinary topics from your everyday life as long as they describe you/your personality. For example, I read a pretty good essay on John Hopkin’s website where the person just wrote about their bookshelf and what it meant to them (ie. how they built it with their father and added different things/posters to it as they changed over the years).

As for your current topic ideas, I think it is better to go into detail for one event or subject than covering an entire day. What would you write about during your typical school day? Describing how you go to class seems a little boring unless you are part of a special school program/internship at a hospital or something that is really significant to you. (at my school there is a health career program where students can shadow real doctors at a local hospital instead of their morning class periods)

I think you should write about #2 or maybe #3 (depending on what you choose to focus on). You could describe a certain aspect of your room that means a lot to you like the person who wrote about their bookshelf. Your subway ride to school also could be interesting… did you meet certain people or notice something unique? My English teacher said that the best essays he reads are usually about the most mundane things and stand out because of what they portray about the writer. Good luck!

Out of the choices, I would do #3. #2 is really overdone.
