As an in-class assignment, we peer-edited our college essays in my English Lit Class. However, my teacher is making us submit our final essays to Turnitin to check for plagiarism. Since Turnitin adds each submitted essay to its database, would it be possible that the colleges I apply to will think that I plagiarized my essay from myself? I Googled a bit and found that Stanford (my first-choice school) will use Turnitin on the essays this year...

I wouldn’t think so. If you have to sign up on TurnItIn, maybe make your username with your first name in it so colleges can see its you. And if its ‘‘from yourself’’ it really shouldn’t be considered as plagiarizing because its your work, just submitted online to double-check you’re not plagiarizing off of someone else. If you are questioned, just explain that your teacher made you do it.
